According to Independent Age, 40% of pensioners will face poverty within any nine-year period due to rising inflation and the Government's withdrawal of the triple lock. Pensioners now lose £270 each year. Does my party believe we should double and extend eligibility for the winter fuel allowance?
The hon. Lady will be aware that state pensions increased by 2.5% last year, even when prices were not rising as much, and will rise again by 3.1% this April. In addition to the winter fuel allowance, other support measures include the cold weather payment and a £9 billion package announced by the Chancellor for the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
