Q2 Partial Answer
Context
Residents in Orchard Close, Burton Joyce, and Hamilton Close in Arnold have experienced flooding due to insufficient drainage from building sites. Gedling Borough Council is considering a supplementary planning document requiring developers to install drainage first.
For residents in Orchard Close in my constituency, heavy rain and insufficient drainage from a building site at the top of the hill caused their road to flood, damaging the street and property. Will the Government consider introducing such a requirement nationally?
As well as being a brilliant constituency Member of Parliament, my hon. Friend makes an important point that will resonate with many Members across this House. I hope that we will be able to see more about sustainable drainage systems in the NPPF.
Assessment & feedback
The specific requirement was not directly addressed; only a mention of sustainable drainage systems in the future framework

Some 2.6 million homes are at risk of flooding. In Hull we have our first permeable street as part of the Living With Water initiative. Will the Secretary of State reform the national planning policy framework to make it stronger in dealing with floodwaters?
I know Hull is the second most flood-prone city in England and I applaud the work undertaken by the local authority. I do not know whether I will be able to join her on 5 July, but I hope that when I visit Hull soon, I will have the opportunity to talk about this issue.
