The MBRRACE report shows that women from black, Asian and mixed ethnic groups have worse maternity outcomes. That is why NHS England has published the equity and equality guidance for local maternity services, supported by £6.8 million of investment to focus on actions to reduce the disparities.

The Government's maternity taskforce pleaded with the Government to provide better care, yet eight out of ten refugee and migrant women still wait more than 10 weeks for their first antenatal care. Black women are four times more likely to die from childbirth.
When will the taskforce finish its inquiry and when will the Government start delivering better maternity care for women in this country?
The hon. Lady highlighted the work of the maternity disparities taskforce, which was set up by this Government. The next meeting will focus on actions to tackle issues; from October last year, local areas produced plans targeting specific communities to improve outcomes.
