Context
The MP raises concerns about AI companies using copyrighted material without consent, affecting the creative sector's economic value.
AI firms are committing large-scale abuse by using copyrighted images and media to train their tools without consent or compensation. This could harm the 10% of UK GDP from the creative sector compared to less than a quarter of a per cent for AI. How does it make sense to sacrifice creators in favour of less impactful sectors?
I recognise the importance of protecting creative rights. We are hearing from the sector and working on greater transparency in our White Paper.

Context
The MP criticises the Government's response to a previous statement about considering legislation if a code of practice on AI and IP could not be achieved.
The Government's answer was dismissive, ignoring the need to protect creators. Last June, the Secretary of State said that if the code of practice was not achieved, legislation could be considered. When will this plan be implemented?
The Labour party has no plan, which is unacceptable. We have worked with sectors and set out steps in our White Paper on transparency and will continue to work on all areas.
