Context
The flood recovery framework's impact on businesses and constituents is under scrutiny following recent flooding incidents.
What his planned timescale is for reviewing the flood recovery framework. The hon. Gentleman noted that a constituent, Lucy, owns Ride Leisure Events which was affected by Storm Henk. Despite her business being ineligible for compensation due to an arbitrary decision, she faces difficulties without insurance and within Kempston's flooding zone.
I am grateful to the hon. Gentleman for his question. The review of the flood recovery framework has already begun and is expected to be completed by autumn this year. 2,241 properties have been identified as eligible for grant support due to Storm Henk, with payments totaling £788,743 reported so far.
Assessment & feedback
The hon. Gentleman's specific ask regarding his constituent was not directly addressed.

Context
A constituent's business is ineligible for compensation due to an arbitrary decision regarding the number of properties affected by flooding.
My constituent Lucy owns Ride Leisure Events on Wyboston Lakes, which flooded again during Storm Henk. She cannot get insurance and her business is not entitled to compensation under the flood recovery framework because fewer than 50 properties were impacted. This is very unfair as she will not be the only one affected in Kempston.
I am sorry to hear about that case, if the hon. Gentleman writes to me with details of the business, I will look into it. The issue will be considered during the ongoing flood recovery framework review set for autumn this year.
Assessment & feedback
The specific anomaly in the framework was not addressed directly.

Context
Whiston Parish Council called a special public meeting regarding the construction of new homes on flood-prone land in Whiston, questioning Rotherham council's understanding of flooding issues.
Whiston has been flooded repeatedly over the past decade. Despite this ongoing issue, 450 new homes are being built there. The Parish Council pointed out flaws in the plans showing water running uphill and draining into a non-existent stream. This suggests Rotherham council does not understand flooding issues.
My hon. Friend has raised an important issue. The local planning authority and the Environment Agency should find the most appropriate sites for development, considering hydrology and water management.
Assessment & feedback
The specific question about Rotherham's responsibility was not addressed directly.
