What recent assessment has been made of the impact of the UK's departure from the EU on Scotland? Has the government recognized the negative effects?
The UK Government are working tirelessly to maximise opportunities following our departure from the European Union. Fisheries negotiations have resulted in a fishing quota of 2,200 tonnes for the Scottish fleet. The UK's independent status allows stronger negotiation power.
Will my right hon. Friend join me in welcoming the completion of fisheries negotiations with the Faroe Islands, resulting in 2,200 tonnes of fishing quota mostly for the Scottish fleet? Since becoming an independent coastal state, does he agree that the Scottish fleet now has a stronger voice in these annual negotiations?
My hon. Friend is a great champion of the fishing industry, and I completely agree with him.
