Context
The Minister for Secondary Care visited the constituency of West Ham and Beckton, observing pressures on Newham hospital's A&E department.
Following the visit of the Minister for Secondary Care to my constituency where she saw the pressures at Newham hospital A&E due to past government policies and population growth, can the Secretary of State reassure constituents about longer-term infrastructure planning to future-proof against further population growth as we regenerate brownfield sites in the Royal Docks?
My hon. Friend the Member for West Ham and Beckton is correct to raise increasing demand and pressures, which is why we will shortly publish our 10-year plan for health. I am happy to report that Whipps Cross and Newham hospitals have also been provisionally allocated £28 million this year to improve buildings and estates.
