Context
The MP referenced a major expansion at the port of Mostyn that will create 300 new jobs as it prepares to support offshore wind farm sector.
Since the election, over £40 billion of investment has been announced in clean energy, creating good jobs with good wages. By 2030, the industry could support hundreds of thousands of new jobs. We will soon publish our clean energy workforce strategy which sets out where and how we deliver these future jobs. The risk is that voting for the Conservatives or Reform would jeopardise all those jobs. Does the Minister agree this is not a time to hold back but invest in green energy to tackle climate change, secure our energy supply and provide skilled jobs for constituents in Clwyd East?
I thank my hon. Friend for her speech. I welcome the 300 new jobs coming to the port of Mostyn in support of offshore wind farms. This Labour Government is driving investment in communities across carbon capture, hydrogen, nuclear, wind and solar energy sectors.

The SNP Member highlighted the £14 billion announcement for new nuclear energy projects but noted that shovel-ready green developments like Cruachan 2 and Acorn project are not receiving funding.
The UK Government have announced £14 billion for new, extremely expensive nuclear energy projects. Both the Cruachan 2 and the Acorn project in Scotland await approval to create green jobs. When will that money be made available?
We are supporting jobs across Scotland. The hon. Gentleman does not have long to wait about the Acorn project as the spending review will be published later this week.

The Conservative Member highlighted job losses due to the slowdown in offshore wind deployment and steep decline in oil and gas activity.
We welcome new jobs when they are created, but will the Minister acknowledge the destructive impact her Government’s policies have on jobs in oil and gas in the North Sea? In my constituency of Westhill, I met workers terrified for their future due to job losses from the supply chain. Robert Gordon University estimates 400 job losses every two weeks; Offshore Energies UK predicts up to 42,000 job losses by July 2024 unless there is significant policy change. The Just Transition Commission warns of 120,000 potential job losses by 2030.
Under the previous Government, we lost 70,000 jobs in oil and gas industry and over 1,000 in ceramics. We only produced 30% of steel needed domestically; chemicals declined by 30%. The Conservatives’ record is shocking. We are transitioning people from oil and gas to renewables through our passport system; developing a workforce plan for hundreds of thousands of future jobs.
