Context
The Conservative Government's promise of 40 new hospitals by 2030 lacked funding beyond March. Torbay Hospital, the third oldest in UK, is in dire need of investment due to sewage leaks and structural issues.
Torbay hospital needs significant investment which has been delayed. It is described as 'dire' with sewage leaks and scaffolding around it. Will the Minister meet me and representatives to discuss achieving necessary investment?
I remind the hon. Member that Lord Darzi echoed concerns about the state of hospitals, and I have visited many such hospitals and would be happy to discuss the matter further. The Torbay and South Devon NHS foundation trust has received £7.3 million from the estates safety fund for works at the hospital, and we are committed to ensuring its development in line with the programme.
