Context
Suffolk Coastal is home to numerous nationally significant infrastructure projects, which have raised concerns about the lack of coordination between tourism and energy development.
What discussions has she had with Cabinet colleagues on providing additional funding for tourism in areas affected by major energy infrastructure projects? Suffolk Coastal hosts many such projects and I hear daily from businesses and constituents about their impact. Is she discussing this issue with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero?
We are committed to supporting the visitor economy in rural and coastal communities through ongoing dialogue with other Departments. The Department works closely with DESNZ and MHCLG to ensure that the needs of tourism are considered during planning and delivery of large-scale projects. Cumulative impacts of multiple NSIPs are also reviewed as they progress individually through the regime.
