Q1 Partial Answer
Graham Leadbitter SNP
Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey
Context
The MP is concerned about the exclusion of certain areas from applying for Pride in Place funding due to their proximity to phase 1 neighbourhoods receiving funding.
Does the Minister appreciate that in my constituency, Nairn would be excluded from applying for Pride in Place funding because Elgin is already in receipt of funding, despite being in a different unitary authority and not even in the same constituency prior to boundary changes? This exclusion also affects Shetland due to Orkney's funding. Does the Minister agree that this exclusion is nonsensical and discriminatory against large geographies and needs to be changed?
The allocation of funding is driven by deprivation indicators. The approach in Scotland also considers health indicators alongside deprivation. We are working closely with the Scotland Office and local partners to ensure we allocate Pride in Place programme funding to areas that need it most, and further allocations will be announced shortly.
Assessment & feedback
The specific ask about changing exclusion criteria for more areas to apply was not addressed directly.
