Q1 Partial Answer

Horsham
Context
The previous Government consulted on pavement parking rules but failed to take action. The current government is considering devolution in shaping their thinking on the issue.
What recent progress has been made on developing policy regarding pavement parking? Will the Minister assure us that any enforcement powers will be extended to local authorities and not just the police, to make regulations effective? Furthermore, will he reassure us that local authorities have the power to make exceptions in impractical areas?
We continue to engage actively with local authorities in developing this policy. Local authorities already have the power to restrict pavement parking by introducing traffic regulation orders, and we are exploring additional measures to assist them.
Assessment & feedback
The Minister did not explicitly assure that enforcement powers will be extended to local authorities beyond what is already in place or specify how exceptions for impractical areas would work.
