Context
Iain Duncan Smith returned from a visit to Ukraine where he met military commanders who expressed urgent needs for artillery pieces, 155 mm munitions, and C-RAM defence missiles.
What is the planned timetable for the annual provision of £3 billion in military support to Ukraine? I came back from Ukraine a week and a half ago. Military commanders there made it very clear they are desperately short of artillery pieces, 155 mm munitions, and C-RAM defence missiles which are needed to protect energy sites and civilian homes.
The Government have committed to maintaining £3 billion in military aid to Ukraine this year, next year, and each year for as long as it takes. Since my second day in office, I made the commitment that the UK would step up and speed up support for Ukraine, which is exactly what we are doing. This will be part of discussions at a meeting I chair on Wednesday and at NATO on Thursday.
Assessment & feedback
The questioner asked specifically about providing necessary weaponry and pushing allies to fulfill their promises; the answer did not address this directly but rather referenced general support commitments.
