The MP is concerned about the need for improved public transport safety.
What steps she is taking with public transport providers to help improve the safety of commuters. The mainline railway is among the safest in Europe, but there are concerns about ensuring everyone feels safe and confident when travelling.
My Department is working across Government and with partners, including the British Transport police and the transport industry, to ensure that everyone both feels safe and is safe when travelling. Our recently published road safety strategy sets out our vision for a safer future for all.

The works at Gallows Corner A127-A12 junction should have been completed last year but are ongoing until the spring of this year, affecting people across Havering, Essex and east London.
Will she please take control and sort this matter out as fast as possible so that it does not do any more damage to our local economy. The situation is creating chaos and disruption for constituents in Havering.
I do understand the importance of that junction to the hon. Gentleman's constituents, but it is a Transport for London scheme. The previous Government provided very limited funding, whereas this Labour Government has provided substantive funding to allow construction to go ahead.

BCP council is axing the money to improve safety and accessibility at Pokesdown railway station, undermining growth sectors in Bournemouth.
Does the Secretary of State agree that the Government will not look kindly on councils such as BCP that withdraw funding from key infrastructure that could unlock growth. This decision undermines safety and growth sectors.
I was angered when I learned of the council's decision to withdraw funding from the Pokesdown station improvements scheme. A meeting is due to take place in the coming weeks between South Western Railway and the council, attempting to get the council to rethink its position on the scheme.
