Will the Minister confirm that Nuclear Decommissioning Authority-owned land adjacent to Sellafield will be made available for new nuclear? More specifically, will enough land be made available to accommodate two 470 MW Rolls-Royce power stations and their ancillary buildings and spaces?

I can confirm that Moorside is indeed a candidate for new nuclear, and it is one of a number of potential sites for hosting civil nuclear projects. Great British Nuclear is currently running a competitive process to select those small modular reactor technologies best able to facilitate operational projects in the 2030s.

It is brilliant to hear about all of this progress. What assessment has the Minister made of the value for money cap in connecting the hardest-to-reach households and businesses, of which I have many in my very rural, incredibly beautiful but sparsely populated constituency?
Context
The MP's constituency has many hard-to-reach households and businesses that require significant investment for broadband.

My hon. Friend's constituency has very low gigabit connectivity, partly because its geography makes connections very expensive. That is why we launched one of our very first contracts in Cumbria. Some 15,000 premises are going to be connected across Copeland, and we are trying to stretch the contract as far as it will go. For premises that will not be reached, we will look at other technologies so that we can get to them as quickly as possible.

The A701 relief road realignment is a key regional infrastructure project with knock-on national benefits, not to mention the major improvements it would make in Midlothian. So-called levelling up round 3 did not even allow the project to bid for funding, and I know that the leader of Midlothian Council and the leaders of all the councils in the Edinburgh and South East Scotland city region deal have written to the Levelling Up Secretary to express their disappointment. Will this Secretary of State add his voice to theirs in calling for that critical infrastructure to be supported?

The hon. Gentleman will know that the primary responsibility for delivering road transport in Scotland is the responsibility of the SNP Government, because it is devolved. I am pleased that he has welcomed the levelling-up bids that have been delivered in Scotland—this Government delivering for the people of Scotland where his Government have failed. On the specific issue he raises, I will of course draw his remarks to the attention of the Secretary of State.

I thank my right hon. Friend the Farming Minister for meeting my farmers in Wasdale last year. I have continued that conversation, and there is a keen desire among farmers to take advantage of ELMs; they overwhelmingly ask for clarity about what to go for and when to achieve success.

What steps he is taking to support farmers through the environmental land management schemes. I am concerned that while there is a keen desire among farmers to take advantage of ELMs, they are asking for more clarity about what to go for and when to achieve the most successful, sustainable and profitable farm business.

We are increasing payment rates under ELMs through a 10% average uplift this year, adding about 50 new actions. The sustainable farming incentive and countryside stewardship mid-tier application process will be streamlined to make it easier for schemes to fit into farm businesses.

Do my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State and the Minister for Nuclear and Networks agree that the very best location for two 470 MW Rolls-Royce SMRs is next to Sellafield?

We are developing a national policy statement for planning new nuclear power beyond 2025 and remain open to all technologies that deliver energy goals. We have visited Sellafield recently and aim to deploy up to 24 GW of nuclear energy by 2050.
