Government Response
The Minister acknowledged the Criminal Cases Review Commission’s review of the cases and emphasised that due process was followed in Lucy Letby's conviction. She highlighted that there has been an independent assessment by the Crown Prosecution Service, a trial by jury, and two appeal processes leading to her convictions. The minister also mentioned HM Inspector’s high ratings for Cheshire constabulary and urged MPs not to undermine public confidence in the police or criminal justice system without established impropriety. She concluded by wishing everyone, especially her constituents, a happy Easter.
