Introduced the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill aimed at helping companies survive; discussed benefits of the Bill, extending filing periods for businesses, furlough scheme extension, and tourism support. The Government have introduced an extensive package including grants, loans schemes, the furlough scheme, self-employment support, tax deferral options, and adjustments based on social distancing reviews. The Minister highlighted the job retention scheme's utilisation in the automotive sector and discussed potential solutions for businesses facing HMRC issues. My Department has regular discussions with Housing, Communities and Local Government colleagues on the impact of covid-19 on high street businesses. We have provided unprecedented support to high street businesses through measures such as business rate relief and cash grants. Extended discretionary scheme for businesses with low rateable values and highlighted Liverpool City Council's support distribution. Supported the bounce-back loans scheme targeting small and microbusinesses up to £50,000. The Minister reassures Lee Anderson about government efforts to support workers affected by Rolls-Royce redundancies through collaboration with the Department for Work and Pensions, Jobcentre Plus, and the company itself. For Kenny MacAskill’s concern, the Minister argues against the characterisation of a discriminatory regime towards Scotland's offshore energy projects.
