Opened the debate
We are bringing coronavirus under control. Yesterday’s figures showed 352 new cases, the lowest since lockdown began. That is down from over 5,000 a day at the peak... Our plan has always been to lift the national lockdown while taking ever more targeted action to suppress the virus.

Government Response
First, the hon. Gentleman rightly asks about the process needed to bring Leicester out of lockdown and back to the level of freedom enjoyed in the rest of the country... We must ensure that such decisions are clinically led, but of course I keep the issue under review and take the comments from the Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee very seriously. Matthew Hancock Responded to several issues including face mask exemptions, swimming pool openings, cancer recovery plans, vascular patient treatment delays, infection rates in Rotherham, PPE contract details, nursing shortages, asymptomatic testing strategies, data reporting in Deloitte contracts, support for local authorities dealing with care homes, and the UK's strategy towards covid-19. Responded extensively on topics such as the risk of a second wave, categorization in beauty industry, engagement with care staff for proper funding, resource allocation for cancer services, public sentiment towards vaccines, reviewing Public Health England, and sharing best practices for safe reopening of pubs. Responded to concerns regarding HIV/AIDS, mental health services during lockdowns, gender and age-specific impact on coronavirus infections, parents of premature babies' support needs, screening programmes' importance, radiotherapy expansion for cancer treatments, and testing capacity usage. He also emphasised the scientific approach in allocating testing resources.
