Mr Speaker and the Deputy Speakers have clarified that half-hour Adjournment debates are personal between the Member who secured the debate and the Minister. The practice of additional speeches should be discouraged, and it is important for the Chair to be notified in advance if an agreement is reached for such speeches.

The half-hour Adjournment debate is intended as a personal debate between the Member and the Minister. Other Members should not be allowed to make additional speeches unless there is an agreement between the Member, the Minister, and the Chair. Virtual participation for second or additional speeches will only be available if necessary for the Member who secured the debate or the Minister replying.
