Government Statement
With permission, Mr Speaker, the Minister informed that due to changes following a leadership election in the Conservative Party, the Government has agreed with business managers not to move the Second Reading and other motions related to the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill today. The decision is to allow Ministers time to further consider the legislation. This aligns with previously announced plans for the week's parliamentary schedule as mentioned on 21 July.

Shadow Comment

Thangam Debbonaire
Shadow Comment
The shadow expressed concern about the decision to pull an important Bill that was intended to unlock growth and business opportunities, questioning whether there is opposition from within. She inquired specifically why this uncontentious Bill has been pulled and when it will be rescheduled or dropped entirely, suggesting that parliamentary time could have instead been used for legislation addressing the energy price cap issue.
