How the Debate Unfolded
MPs spoke in turn to share their views and ask questions. Here's what each person said:
Government Statement
Last week, the Committee on Standards published a report on my conduct following a complaint from Sir Stephen Irwin, the chair of the independent expert panel, that I had not abided by a determination of the IEP. I apologise unequivocally to the House for my behaviour in bullying members of House of Commons staff and undermine the sincerity of the apology given previously. My actions may have led to reduced public confidence in the process and a detrimental effect on the House's conduct policy due to undermining the integrity of the complaints process. I am committed to personal development, especially in communication with others, and will send written apologies to relevant parties.
