The amendment aims to bring into operation during the current post-election period the Organ and Tissue Donation (Deemed Consent) Act (Northern Ireland) 2022 by temporarily allowing Parliament to approve relevant regulations made by the Department of Health in Northern Ireland. This is necessary due to the ongoing political stalemate in Northern Ireland which prevents the passage of such regulations through the local Assembly.
