Mr Speaker, I will make a personal statement in compliance with the findings of the Independent Expert Panel. On 23 November 2023, at the Derby Gate entrance, I was involved in an incident with a security guard where I spoke to the complainant in a manner that included swearing and other language against House of Commons policy. I apologise to the complainant and the House for my behaviour. Our security staff should always be treated with respect. An MP’s behaviour must be of a higher standard, and I assure the House that such behaviour will never happen again.
