Last year, the General Synod voted to reform safeguarding structures. The reforms aim to ensure greater safeguarding, independent scrutiny and consistency of delivery across the Church. An update on these reforms is expected when the General Synod meets next month. Dame Christine Ryan has been appointed as the independent executive chair of the safeguarding structures programme board.
