The Bill aims to address the lack of clarity and statutory protection for youth services, proposing benchmarks around workforce capacity, delivery targets, and young people's consultation. It seeks to define 'sufficient' provision under Section 507B of the Education Act 1996 to ensure consistency in youth service delivery across local authorities.

I beg to move that leave be given to bring in a Bill for the delivery of youth services by local authorities, including defining 'sufficient' under Section 507B. Since 2010, funding cuts have led to significant reductions in youth services and inconsistency across regions. The Bill proposes benchmarks around workforce capacity, service targets, and consultation with young people.
