Opened the debate
On the eighth day of the UN’s 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, Mrs Sharon Hodgson rose to present a petition on pornography from her constituents. She argued that today's online accessibility makes it imperative to ensure safety for participants and protect younger generations from believing that the violent content in mainstream pornography is normal. The petition requests the House of Commons to urge the Government to extend existing offline safeguards to online pornography, requiring all websites accessed from the UK to verify the age and consent of every individual featured and allowing performers to withdraw their consent at any time.
