The United Kingdom has long supported the right of all Venezuelan people to shape their own future through a peaceful, democratic process. We remain steadfast in our commitment to free, fair elections, and the promotion of human rights and other fundamental freedoms in Venezuela. Developments since 3 January have created an opportunity for the international community to support the restoration of democracy. The UK will deepen its engagement with the Interim President, Delcy Rodríguez, and her government to advocate for human rights and support British nationals and businesses in Venezuela. This decision is part of a broader international reengagement and does not represent any change in the UK’s assessment of recent electoral processes.
