The UK government has committed to maintaining the UK’s nuclear deterrent through the triple lock, which guarantees the construction of four Dreadnought nuclear submarines, the maintenance of the Continuous At-Sea Deterrent, and the delivery of future upgrades. The government's plan, as outlined in the Strategic Defence Review and the Defence Investment Plan, involves investing £63 billion over the next four years, a significant increase from the previous four-year period. The Defence Nuclear Enterprise has marked several milestones, including the steel cut for Dreadnought Boat 4 and the commissioning of HMS Agamemnon, while also announcing an £8.4 billion investment in industry to support tens of thousands of jobs and continuous production of submarines. The government is also implementing the Fingleton Review recommendations to streamline regulation and enhance scrutiny through a new House of Commons-only Committee.
