The Ministry of Justice intends to seek a further advance from the Contingencies Fund totalling £1,850,000. This is the second occasion on which the Ministry has sought such an advance, following an initial advance of £1,700,000 announced on 28 April 2026. The total pre-Royal Assent funding for the interim inquests digital solutions would be £3,550,000. The Public Office (Accountability) Bill is not expected to receive Royal Assent before November 2026, necessitating the further advance to maintain delivery ahead of Royal Assent. Parliamentary approval for an additional resource of £1,850,000 will be sought in a Supplementary Estimate for the Ministry of Justice, and the urgent expenditure will be met by repayable cash advances from the Contingencies Fund.
